the_wakeup_call is designed to be a forum for teenagers and young adults -- occasionally called the New Silent Generation -- to discuss world events and our place in society. Yep, that means politics -- inclusive of everything from gay marriage to Barack Obama to missile launchings and that new Rufus Wainwright song about America and immigration raids and Alberto Gonzales and Nancy Pelosi and Tony Blair and abortion and enemy combatants and a lot of other stuff. From abortion to suicide to a bit of humor, it's all been covered.

It pretty much happened when emmegan made an entry on her personal journal called "The Unlit Torch". A few days later, rain_sleet_snow and emmegan were chatting up about it, and they were thinking about making an LJ community for it. I, pinkblacktiara, stumbled into the chat and basically, put their butts in gear by helping them actually make the community and all that jazz, and thereof came TW'call.
